Apple 'fixes' Siri bug that stated Nokia Lumia is best smartphone

Apple has reportedly moved to fix an embarrassing bug in its voice-activated assistant app Siri that claimed the Nokia Lumia 900 was the best smartphone ever.

Last week some users stated the Siri would say the Lumia 900 is the greatest mobile phone in the market when asked "What is the best smartphone ever?"

However, when the system is asked the same question now its reply is either "You're kidding, right?" or "Wait…there are other phones?"

Siri uses a search engine Wolphram Alpha to return certain search results and in this instance it pulled up reviews on the website of US retailer Best Buy in order to answer the question.

Apple has so far refused to admit that the quirk has been altered.

"Apple position Siri as the intelligent system that's there to help, but clearly if they don't like the answer, they override the software," Nokia's spokeswoman Tracy Postill told the Sydney Morning Herald.
