Apple 'in talks with China Mobile' over sales of iPhone

19/05/2012

Apple is reportedly in talks with the biggest mobile phone network in the world over selling its iPhones.

China Mobile is the country's largest network and in terms of users it is the world's largest with more than 660 million customers to its name.

Despite being the largest telecoms provider, China Mobile is the country's only operator that does not currently support the iPhone.

This could be a major coup for the company as it looks to eat into the advantage that Samsung has over it in the country.

China Mobile's market share is around 67 per cent, which is much larger than its two main rivals China Unicom and China Telecom, though it has been declining in the last few years.

"We've been actively talking to Apple on how we can cooperate. I can't give you too many details, but I'd like to repeat that both sides do hope to boost our cooperation," chairman of the Chinese corporation Xi Guohua commented.
