Apple iOS 6 may spur people to sell old iPhone

20/09/2012

Apple's new operating system, iOS 6, could be available to download from September 20th at 3:00 in Australia, according to speculation.

Those with Apple mobile phones as old as the 3GS will be able to install this software using iTunes, but people with older handsets will not benefit from all iOS 6 has to offer.

A main feature of the new Maps app, which is available with the new operating system, is turn-by-turn navigation. There were worries that this would not be coming to Australia but Apple has now confirmed it will be available in October.

However, owners of iPhone 3GS or 4 handsets will not be able to use this tool.

Other big features not supported by the third and fourth-generation handsets include Siri, FaceTime over 3G and the panoramic camera function.

This could be spurring many Apple smartphone owners to sell their old iPhones and upgrade to one which makes the most of the new technology.
