Apple's iPad can 'benefit children'
10/08/2012
Apple's iPad has become one of the must-have items for people all around the world since its inception in 2010.
However, it isn't only adults that can get a great deal of satisfaction from using the tablets.
Indeed, infant and child development psychologist Dr Jordy Kaufman told the Brisbane Times that using an iPad could help a child's development but more research is required.
Despite this assertion, a number of schools in the UK have banned children having mobile phones with them in class.
Dr Kaufman said that while there is plenty of research to show that too much TV can be detrimental to children, it is too early to assume that the same sort of outcome would be found with the use of the iPad.
"What we really have to try to do from a science and societal perspective is try to have the research not lag too far behind that," he said before adding that touchscreen activities "do not seem to adversely affect children's behaviour."
