Lumia 800 to make it to Australia in March

31/01/2012

Nokia has claimed that it is finally set to release its Windows-powered Lumia 800 in Australia by March, which could see an influx in people looking to sell their mobile phones to get the handset.

The Finnish company's smartphone has been out for over a year overseas and Nokia Australia's managing director Chris Carr said interest in the Lumia has been extremely positive.

Mr Carr said the Lumia will be a turning point for the company in the country and is hopeful it will change the way people think about Nokia.

"With uptake from all Australian operators and major retailers, the launch of the Nokia Lumia 800 signals our intent to regain leadership in smartphone design and usability," Mr Carr was reported as saying.

Despite the release of the Lumia range Nokia announced it had posted a net loss of US€1.2 billion ($1.49 billion), which compared to a net profit of €1.8 billion last year.
