25/05/2012

Makers of the global children's social networking site Moshi Monster have confirmed they are looking at developing a full mobile phone version of the platform.

Chief executive of the parent company Mind Candy Michael Acton Smith said it is something that the social channel is working on, as children ask for it constantly.

In the meantime, the company is joining forces with mobile company Gree to offer children two games featuring their pet monsters.

Moshi Monsters has 60 million registered users all around the globe. In the online world, youngsters get to choose one of six virtual pet monsters to create, name and look after.

Mr Acton Smith told BBC News the mobile phone sector is a huge industry that it is looking to tackle in a number of different ways to make the experience as interactive as possible for children.

"Kids love smartphones and tablets so developing entertainment for these platforms is going to be a huge growth area over the next few years as their access to them grows," he added.
