Mobile phone recycling: Smartphone sales to continue at apace

24/04/2012

New research has shown that people around the world are going to continue looking towards smartphones when buying their next devices in the first six months of the year.

ABI Research's Technology Barometer survey found that 25 per cent of US respondents said they intended to purchase a smart mobile phone during the first half of 2012.

The rapid rise in the number of people jumping on the smartphone bandwagon is such that KPMG recently noted the amount of transactions made by mobile phones is expected to grow by 97 per cent in the next three years.

Senior analyst at ABI Research Michael Inouye said that smart devices have really captured the imagination of the general public throughout the world.

"While connecting a mobile device to the TV screen or wirelessly mirroring the screen may be foreign to many consumers, this practice will occur more frequently as the market and consumer behaviour evolves," he continued.
