Mobile phone recycling: Vodafone to launch 4G network

27/06/2012

Mobile phone operator Vodafone Australia has announced its intention to battle Telstra and Optus for speed-hungry consumers in the country with the launch of a new 4G network next year.

The network operator also confirmed it is on schedule to complete the £1 billion two-year upgrade of its 3G mobile network by the end of 2012.

It was forced to spend the money on an upgrade after the mobile network suffered something of a meltdown in late 2010, which caused damage to its reputation.

Chief executive of Vodafone Australia Bill Morrow said the company recognised the consumer trends toward the increasing demand for data and is now looking to expand its network capabilities.

"We're absolutely focussed on delivering improved coverage and better reliability to our customers, with further improvements being built into the network every day," he remarked, before adding that its 3g+ would be available from September this year.
