New Lumia could have NFC and wireless charging

02/02/2012

The latest windows-powered mobile phone offering from Nokia in the Lumia series could have Near Field Communications technology, which would allow it to connect to external accessories, and wireless charging.

According to Nokia's head of design Marko Ahtisaari, the company is working closely with Microsoft in order to coordinate software details such as tile colour to match its hardware accessories.

Nokia has shipped more than a million Lumia phones since introducing them in November after the firm decided to abandon its high-end Symbian platform for smartphones in January 2011, the Guardian reports.

"If you can take away a moving part and make it [the phone] more beautiful in the placement of the components, we'll do it, so that's something where we can certainly keep improving," Ahtisaari told the news provider.

It was announced earlier this week that the Nokia Lumia 800 would finally make its way into the Australian market by March.
