Nokia releases Windows Phones updates

29/06/2012

Nokia has begun rolling out a Windows Phone software update for the Lumia 800 and Lumia 710, it confirmed in a blog post on Wednesday ( June 27th).

Owners of the two mobile phones won't be getting their hands on the Windows Phone 8 update whenever that is released but they will be able to enjoy some unique new features.

These include Wi-Fi tethering and an app that silences calls and messages when the device is turned face down.

Wi-Fi tethering will allow users to share their mobile internet connection with up to five other device or computers, according to the firm.

It was recently suggested by independent software development consultant, trainer and author Mathew Baxter-Reynolds that Windows Phone will soon overtake Google Android to be the dominant operating system.

"These apps will only be available for your Nokia Lumia 800 and Nokia Lumia 710 once you have installed the new Windows Phone 7.5 software update," the blog post read.
