Samsung devices 'confusingly similar' to iPhone

One of Apple's key witnesses in the patent trial between the American firm and Samsung has described the Korean gadgets as "confusingly similar" to that of the iPhone.

Award-winning graphic designer Susan Kare - who helped design icons for the original Macintosh computers between 1982 and 1986 - examined the home screen of 11 different Samsung products, Reuters reports.

Apple contends that buyers could confuse Samsung devices with the iPhone and claims that the Korean firm copied its design and features.

This is the latest in a long-running patent dispute between the two companies who have fought over their designs in many different countries.

Last month, Samsung won a similar court hearing in the UK after the judge deemed that its products were not as cool as Apple's iPhone.

"I could see the screen. I went to pick up the iPhone to make a point about the user interface, and I was holding a Samsung," Ms Kare added.
