Samsung Galaxy S3 could be banned by Apple

08/06/2012

Apple has filed a new claim against Samsung in Australia in the hope of banning the sale of its latest flagship device the Galaxy S3.

It previously took action in Australia to ban the Galaxy Tablet and it has now taken strides against the Korean company with a filing to the Australian Patents Office.

Apple claims that Samsung has infringed on its interface patents and this is the latest claim in a long-running legal battle, which is currently being mediated in court in the US.

The two firms are currently entangled in around 30 patent litigation suits all around the world.

Seoul-based Apple spokesman Steve Park said it is no coincidence that Samsung's latest products look similar to the iPhone and iPad devices.

Samsung issued a counter-statement: "Samsung believes Apple's request is without merit. We will vigorously oppose the request and demonstrate to the court that the Galaxy S III is innovative and distinctive."
