Samsung loses appeal against the ban on Galaxy Tab
04/07/2012
Apple looks set to win a US ban on sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab device after a judge denied an appeal by the Korean giant.
Samsung had appealed against a pre-trial injunction granted by US District Judge Lucy Koh last week, asking for it to be put on hold.
The judge also issued an injunction last week banning the sales of the Galaxy Nexus smartphone, which has been appealed as well, however, this has yet to be ruled on.
Ms Koh issued the injunctions because she ruled that Samsung was unfairly competing in the market with the two devices.
Samsung provided the judge with seven grounds for its appeal but Ms Koh dismissed it.
A Samsung spokesman said the company was naturally disappointed by the decision of the judge.
"We believe today’s ruling will ultimately reduce the availability of superior technological features to consumers in the United States," he said.
