Sell my mobile: Australians prefer iOS to Android
17/05/2012
Australians still prefer Apple products in favour of Android mobile phones, according to new research released by Google.
The figures show that one in every two Aussies now owns some form of smartphone, such is the popularity of the devices.
Survey data gathered in the first three months of 2012 by Ipsos Media CT shows that 49 per cent of the respondents were using an iPhone, while 25 per cent had an Android-powered handset.
This contradicts forecasts from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech last year, which suggested that Android's market share in Australia would increase in 2012.
Of the people questioned, 60 per cent had made a purchase using their smartphone in the last month, which highlights the growing importance of having the internet at your fingertips.
"The mobile revolution isn't 'coming' - it's already happened. Mobile is no longer optional: businesses need to develop a mobile strategy now, or risk getting left behind," said head of mobile advertising for Google Australia Jason Pellegrino.
