Sell my mobile: Mobile phone coverage woes could be at an end
Poor mobile phone coverage could be a thing of the past for consumers in Wollondilly, New South Wales, because of the release of a new device.
Indigo Telecom is rolling out the new dual-mode mobile phones in Australia Post offices across the country, including the one in the centre of Wollondilly.
Mobile coverage is something that has been noted across the country recently, with the organiser of the folk festival Port Fairy in Victoria saying he was "ashamed" of the service being provided in the region.
Chief executive of Indigo Telecom David Ruddiman said the new devices will allow people to roam on to satellite signals if they enter a black spot or lose conventional signal.
"The dual-mode phone can access both GSM [Global System for Mobile Communications] and satellite, giving the user extended coverage across 100 per cent of Australia and out at sea," he continued.
