The launch of Australia's first 4G phone – thought to be the HTC Velocity – is set to take place by the end of January, which could see an increasing number of citizens look to get the new device when it is released.
Running at speeds between 2MB per second and 40MB per second, 4G effectively doubles current 3G network speeds.
Telstra is understood to be planning to launch the phone between now and January 31st and said there are a number of world-leading manufacturers – including HTC – ready to bring a wide variety to customers in Australia.
“Telstra product and technology specialists are attending the show with a view to bringing the best upcoming products to Australia,” a spokeswoman said.
Recent figures from HTC show that their profits have decreased for the fourth quarter of 2011, which has been out down to the company's inability to match the Samsung Galaxy Range.
