The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has released an application for Apple iPhone and Android devices called ACCC Shopper.
This tool offers advice to consumers, who have questions concerning the rules regarding refund policies, warranties and so on.
Many shoppers purchase gifts for loved ones as early as October, and so may experience difficulties trying to make a return after December 25th.
ACCC Shopper, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play, will inform customers what their rights are in these kinds of circumstances.
Research conducted by Telstra recently showed that more Aussies are using their smartphones to place online gift orders this Christmas, and the app will help people concerned with e-commerce sales too.
Users can also store photographs of receipts on the app, which can later be used as proof of purchase if a problem arises.
Consumers can avoid missing returns or warranty application deadlines by setting a reminder through the ACCC tool.
