Although recent rumours have suggested that Apple and Samsung have gone their separate ways, new reports indicate the two companies may team up to work on the next mobile phone from Apple.
According to the Korea Economic Daily, “Samsung Electronics developed state-of-the-art 14 nano models ahead of its rival TSMC, regaining the order from Apple”.
It means that Samsung could be manufacturing the chips for future iPads and iPhones starting from 2015.
With the amount of time the pair have spent in court battling various patent infringements, it seems an unusual move that Apple has decided to work with the South Korean manufacturer again.
The alleged new deal is expected to consist of A9 chips, although no one seems clear about whether Apple's previous chip deal with TMSC, who had a contract from 2014, has fallen through or not.
