People who recycle their mobile phones over the coming months can look beyond the Apple iPhone 5 as a potential replacement.
While there is understandably great excitement about the upcoming release, as experts and consumers eagerly await official details, it does not mean there are no other top launches to look forward to.
James Holland, editor at Electricpig.co.uk, explained that the release of the iPhone 5 will force the hand of all other major manufacturers and new models can be expected.
“The first Nokia devices to run Microsoft's software have been promised soon and could be the stiffest competition to the iPhone and Android yet,” he remarked.
This possibility is backed by the fact that Nokia and Microsoft appear ready to finally launch the Windows Phone 7 platform into the mainstream.
Apple's recent releases include the iPad 2, which came out earlier this year, while the iPhone 4 was unveiled in June 2010.
