A technology expert has suggested a number of the latest phones are now “future proof”.
The comments come from a spokesman for Stuff.tv – a web-based portal that supplies the latest industry news and reviews, looking at gadgets, home entertainment and mobile devices.
Joe Minihane, online multimedia editor for the site, said handsets such as the iPhone 3G were well equipped for future applications – and one reason for this was their ability to be improved by the user.
“Software updates seem to be the big thing at the moment, so it’s kind of like getting a new phone every six months anyway when [Apple] updates [the operating system] because you’re adding new features,” he explained.
His comments may inspire some to consider recycling mobile phones in order to pay for the multimedia gadget – which is available on the latest contracts and pay-as-you-go packages from O2.
