Andy Betts, editor of mobile computing blog Smartphone Daily, claimed that businesses are increasingly looking towards the iPhone as a corporate device because staff are already familiar with it.
“Traditionally, businesses would provide devices that the users weren’t particularly happy with and the iPhone is a popular device, so businesses are now trying to provide something that offers a more satisfactory user experience,” he explained.
He added that the iPhone does not have any particular advantage or disadvantage over other models popular in business, such as BlackBerry handsets, but it offers a better mix between business and pleasure.
Bankers with London-based financial firm Standard Chartered have already been given the chance to swap their corporate mobile phones for an iPhone, Reuters recently reported.
