It seems that once Aussies get their hands on an Apple iPhone, they're reluctant to opt for any other handset – the American manufacturer has the highest repeat purchase intention among customers.
The company is known for its huge, loyal fan base – consumers around the world queue outside retail stores for hours on iPhone release days to be among the first to purchase the latest gadget.
However, Telsyte also found that Android-toting devices have outnumbered those utilising the Apple iOS operating system for the first time in Australia.
Consumers are increasingly attracted to the Google mobile software, which is installed on popular handsets like the Samsung Galaxy S3.
Availability of tools and games was once a major draw to Apple gadgets, but Google Play grew and matched the App Store's 700,000-plus range.
Android mobile phones also cater to a wider range of budgets, whereas iPhone handsets tend to be among the most expensive on the market.
