Apple’s App Store reaches 25 billion downloads

Apple has announced that there has been more than 25 billion applications downloaded from its App Store from 315 million iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices worldwide.

The App store offers more than 550,000 apps to Apple mobile phone product users in 123 countries around the world. The apps are split into 21 categories including Newsstand, games, business and sports.

Bosses at the firm have had to recently make changes to its apps policy to try and quell growing privacy controversy and to assure users' data is properly protected.

Apple's senior vice president of internet software and services Eddy Cue thanked everyone from consumers to the developers for helping the firm reach this historic milestone in a statement.

“When we launched the App Store we never imagined that mobile apps would become the phenomenon they have, or that developers would create such an incredible selection of apps for iOS users,” his statement read.
