After recycling mobile phones, it may be only natural to wonder what sort of device is the best option when it comes to choosing a replacement.
New research by In-Stat has suggested that the answer in many cases could be a tablet, such as the Apple iPad.
The group predicted that shipments of the gadgets will rise to almost 250 million in 2017, as companies such as Samsung, LG, BlackBerry and Motorola join Apple in fuelling demand for tablets.
Jim McGregor, chief technology strategist at In-Stat, said: “The tablet market and its associated ecosystem are still evolving. Over the next few generations we will see more differentiation between devices that are targeting different market segments and usage models.”
Recent reports have suggested that HTC is readying itself to launch a brand new tablet, the Puccini, which is likely to hit the shelves in either the third or fourth quarter of 2011.
