Those looking to snap up mobile phones in the future will increasingly prioritise the inclusion of augmented reality technology, in the opinion of one expert.
Jon Mew, director of mobile and operations at the Internet Advertising Bureau, said the trend for overlapping real life with mobile operations is only going to grow.
He noted the desire to take mobile phones everywhere and at all times of the day means they are playing a greater role in everyday life.
“Apps are driving consumer usage – we've seen the fastest growth in app downloads last year that we've ever seen,” Mr Mew stated.
One key use of augmented reality to have appeared recently is on vouchers and codes that can be used in stores to purchase goods.
It was recently reported by nytimes.com that the Aurasma search technology, created by UK developer Autonomy, has been released, allowing images to be super-imposed on real-life pictures.
