Shocking new research has shown that nearly $4 million worth of mobile phones were lost in Sydney alone last year.
Lookout's Mobile Lost & Found Survey showed that throughout the world, $7 million worth of mobile phones are lost every day.
The global study found that the most common places to lose your phone in Sydney are in a coffee shop, a church or a car repair shop.
It also revealed that people in the city lose their phone once every two years.
Police in Pyrmont, New South Wales, revealed on Sunday (April 15th) that they were chasing a group of teenagers who were allegedly targeting pedestrians in the area to steal their mobiles.
The Lookout survey analysed data from its 15 million users who had used the firm's applications to locate lost or stolen devices in 2011.
It found that mobiles most commonly go missing between 21:00 and 02:00.
