BlackBerry announced on its website that its BBM messaging service was available for Android and iPhone mobile phones. However, it seems the release was a little premature as the software doesn't appear to be ready to launch yet.
The Canadian manufacturer took the “BBM for Android and iPhone is here” message down shortly after it released the news, according to the dedicated site CrackBerry. It appears BlackBerry may have been a little too eager as the website has now reverted to the old “BBM is coming to Android and iPhone” guise.
However, it appears that it shouldn't be too much longer before Apple and Android users can get themselves on the free messaging service. It will be the first time that people other than BlackBerry users will be able to use the software.
