As many as four million people around the world could be selling their mobiles and switching to the Apple iPhone 4S this weekend, after it hits the shelves for the first time today (October 14th).
The model will be available in the UK, US, France, Germany, Australia, Japan and Canada today, before it is rolled out across many more nations over the coming weeks.
Bloomberg has reported that initial estimates suggest up to four million of the gadgets will be bought over the next three days.
Such a figure would put it far ahead of the iPhone 4, which recorded sales of 1.7 million in its opening weekend last year.
That is the prediction of Carl Howe, Yankee Group analyst, although several other experts have forecast a more modest two to three million.
“It's going to easily outpace any previous launch,” Charlie Wolf, an analyst at Needham & Co, told the news source.
The mobile was launched in California last week and is said to boast more than 200 new features.
