Google’s new Nexus tablet to hit Australia in July

Google's new Nexus tablet is set to be announced later this week and it will be available to Australian consumers from as early as next month.

Gizmodo Australia has viewed a leaked training document from the search giant detailing what's going to be in the new tablet.

As had been rumoured, Google will announce a seven-inch Nexus-branded tablet called Nexus 7. It has been built by Asus with a 1.3GHz quad-core Tegra 3 processor, GeForce 12-core GPU and 1GB of RAM.

It will run Android Jelly Bean and will be stamped with Android 4.1, rather than the newer 5.0 version as had been reported previously.

The Nexus tablet will also feature near field communication (NFC) and run Google Wallet as well as Android Beam.

Google's document shows that the price of the 8GB model will set people back $US199 ($197), while the more powerful 16GB handset will cost $US249 ($247).
