The Apple iPhone 3G has been in a class of its own for a long time – but there are other serious contenders out there, it has been advised.
A spokeswoman for Stuff.tv, an online publication that offers news and reviews on the latest phones and other gadgets, said the touchscreen handset has yet to be eclipsed by any of its rivals.
However, she admitted there are one or two models out there that could give the device a serious run for its money.
Linsey Fryatt, editor of the resource, said it was a particularly interesting time in the market at the moment with the launch of the Palm Pre and the Google Android-powered HTC Hero.
“There are people catching up and offering certain different solutions for people who don’t want to just follow the crowd and buy into the whole iPhone ethos,” she added.
However, Ms Fryatt concluded by highlighting the fact that the Apple model has bucked the current trend of falling mobile sales – which could prove it is still very desirable.
The firm recently launched the iPhone 3G S, which it claimed is much faster than its predecessor.
