HTC has had trouble breaking into the mobile phone market and has faced severe competition from its rivals.
However, the company is trying to claw its way back by opening a new department in the firm to develop innovative new devices.
The “Emerging Devices” will be responsible for bringing new products into HTC and hopefully propel the company back to the top of the smartphone market. Although there is no insight into what exactly the manufacturer is looking to include in future handsets.
Head of the department will be the current president of HTC North America Mike Woodward, according to the Wall Street Journal.
It's an interesting move by the Taiwanese manufacturer, but the company will have to create some innovative devices to compete with the likes of Apple and Samsung.
