People on the lookout for a new mobile phone could wish to consider selling an old handset following the announcement of a launch date for the latest HTC device.

T-Mobile has revealed that the HTC Desire will be available on its network from March 26th to customers on contract tariffs and comes as something of a surprise as it was widely expected to take a little longer to be released.

As of yet no information is available about how much the handset will cost to buy on a Pay as you Go deal or SIM-free.

The best-priced monthly contract is £25 a month over a 24-month period with an initial payment of £129.99 for the handset. The cost is lowered to £49.99 for consumers who opt to take out a £35 per month deal.

Consumers tempted by the Google Nexus One could wish to take a closer look at the HTC Desire as website stated that it is “virtually the same smartphone” as the Google device and features the Android Eclair operating system and HTC Sense.
