Social media billionaire Mark Zuckerburg announced yesterday in New York that “Facebook Phone” would be integrated on the HTC First and be downloadable on other mobile phones.
The Facebook owner said at the press event yesterday that it wasn't built around apps, but around people.
The idea is that Facebook will become part of the phone, replacing the home and lock screen with the site's “cover feed”. The phone's regular camera will become “Facebook camera”.
With people spending 20 per cent of the time on their phone on Facebook it seems a clever move that will be appreciated by millions of dedicated users.
Android users will be able to download Facebook Phone on the HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy S3, the Galaxy Note 2 and future devices including the highly-anticipated Galaxy S4 from April 12th.
Customers will be able to choose whether to use it continuously or just once to try it out.
HTC's upcoming flagship phone the First will be the only announced device that will come with the feature already enabled.
