Mobile consumers planning to trade-in a used phone and upgrade to a BlackBerry may be better off with a device by LG instead.

The brand's C300 Town model is in the style of a BlackBerry and features the smartphone manufacturer's trademark qwerty keyboard, explains Joe Minihane, writing for T3.

This type of handset has become the “must-have mobile” among youngsters, the author notes.

LG's C300 Town is based upon a strong emphasis on social networking, with access to sites such as Facebook and Twitter perhaps a priority for youthful mobile owners.

The device also has messaging, such as texts, email and instant services, “at its heart”, states Mr Minihane.

“It's easy to setup and allows you to … [share] your latest aimless thoughts with all and sundry,” the expert asserts.

BlackBerry has been in the news recently for the release of its PlayBook tablet, which could rival Apple's iPad.
