LG launches quad-core smart mobile phone at MWC

This week's Mobile World Congress is likely to see the launch of several new mobile phones into the already crowded market and LG has announced it has launched its new quad-core Optimus 4X.

The 4X is the firm's first quad-core processor powered smartphone and will combine NVIDIA's latest 1.5 GHz Tegra 3 with True HD IPS display to deliver high-speed PC-like performance in the palm of your hand.

President and chief executive officer of LG Mobile Communications Company Dr Jong-seok Park said LG introduced the world's first dual-core smart mobile phone a year ago and this new device is the next innovation.

“But speed in itself isn't what makes LG Optimus 4X HD unique, it's the benefit we're bringing to customers with the HD multimedia experience in a mobile form factor,” the doctor continued.

This year's Mobile World Congress will be taking place in Barcelona from February 27th to March 1st and will celebrate the current state of mobile and offer a glimpse into where the industry has the potential to go.
