After months of speculation and reports of a change of name, LG has officially announced its follow up to the Viewty.
Last week, Mobile Burn reported the manufacturer’s German website had posted an article that seemed to confirm the handsets new moniker – which had previously been the Viewty II.
However, LG has now confirmed the Viewty Smart will hit stores later this year and will be equipped with a range of improvements that could make it tempting to those recycling mobile phones for a more camera-focused model.
In addition to an eight-megapixel sensor, the new device – which also goes by the name of the GC900 – is equipped with an Intelligent Shot Mode that Dr Skott Ahn, president and chief executive of the firm, said puts it in “the next generation” of phones.
“Viewty is back and better than ever, with new smart camera applications that take care of all the complicated camera adjustments and processing for you,” he added.
The unit also features a three-inch WVGA touchscreen, HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, A-GPS geotagging and MicroSD card support.
