Apple's popularity and standing in the mobile phone market has been emphasised by new figures relating to the use of its revolutionary App Store.
According to the US manufacturer, more than ten billion apps have now been downloaded from the portal by iPhone, iPad and iPod consumers.
The number has been achieved over a period of two-and-a-half years, although Apple's senior vice-president of Worldwide Product marketing Philip Schiller says seven billion of these have come in the last year.
“While others try to copy the App Store, it continues to offer developers and customers the most innovative experience on the planet,” he states.
To join the fun and gain access to the thousands of titles, files, tools and functions offered by Apple, consumers could trade-in their mobile in favour of one of the firm's devices.
Its flagship tablet model, the iPad, as well as the latest incarnation of the iPhone – the iPhone 4 – were released in 2010.
