Mobile phone users prompted to activate tracer

Mobile phone users are being urged to make use of applications that can help trace their device when they purchase a new handset.

Consumers are often presented with a plethora of applications designed to prevent theft or allow the tracking of a device should it fall into the wrong hands.

According to Stawell Police, Victoria, not enough mobile phone users are taking the time to activate the software that is on offer to them.

With the huge increase in the number of people using smartphones, users are at an increased risk of suffering theft, according to last month's research conducted by Affinion.

Sergeant Gary Bourman told the Stawell Times there is no excuse not to get this software installed on devices such as iPhones.

“We are encouraging users to install and activate their mobile locator software as soon as they purchase one of these phones,” he added.
