There are over 23 million mobile phones in Australia, and that number is only set to grow according to a new report.
The ‘Mobile Australia’ report revealed the figure, which adds up to about one phone for every man, woman and child in the country.
The total number of service subscriptions in the country has hit 30 million. The number of phones in the country is increasing all the time, with between 130,000 and 190,000 new handsets being imported into Australia every week.
The report also found that mobile phone recycling has been a success, with only three per cent of people simply throwing their old phones away outright.
The effect this has had over the last 15 years has been the equivalent of getting rid of 2,300 cars, or planting almost 50,000 trees.
