Consumers who trade-in a mobile phone in order to switch to one of Nokia's top handsets can do so safe in the knowledge that millions of others around the world are also using the brand's devices on a daily basis.

Adam, author of the Nokia Conversations blog, quotes the 2010 China Mobile Application Report, which he says shows 65.2 per cent of the Asian country's population now use Ovi Store as their first choice download channel.

With almost 300 million mobile broadband customers, China is a major player in the global phones market.

“It's a great result and really validates the importance of Nokia's support for so many languages in its devices and services,” states Adam.

News of its widespread use of Nokia's Ovi Store comes on the back of the firm announcing in December that 3.5 million downloads are now made from it every day.

Downloads from the online store are compatible with 135 of the company's mobile phones.
