Most of the latest phones on the market are doing little to challenge the luxury market, it has been advised.
A spokesman for UnwiredView – an online news and reviews resource which specialises in handset technology – said the luxury mobile market is pretty much up for grabs to the right contender.
Stasys Bielinis, editor-in-chief for the publication, noted that manufacturers such as Mobiado and Gresso were trying to get involved and brands like watch maker Tag Heuer could feature in the future.
However, he explained consumers – including those recycling mobile phones – have a lack of choice when it comes to truly top end products as the Nokia Vertu is pretty much the only handset out there representing this price range.
“There is certainly a place for a big player to take a serious look into it,” he concluded.
Motorola‘s Aura is one model aimed at top-level consumers that was announced this year. The device was backed by a campaign that featured former Manchester United footballer David Beckham.
