Samsung Galaxy S5 not turning up at MWC 2014

Despite recent rumours that said Samsung would debut its new flagship mobile phone at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014, new reports claim that it won't.

With the CES 2014 event in Las Vegas over, many thought that the Barcelona tech conference must be the place that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will make its debut.

However, a tweet from Italian journalist Flavio claims that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be launched at its own event in London in mid March.

This would see the new handset follow in the footsteps of one of its predecessors as the Samsung Galaxy S3 also had a launch event in the UK's capital. However, the more recent Samsung Galaxy S4 went to New York for its release date.

Many were sceptical about whether Samsung would launch such a big device at the MWC 2014 as it seems to prefer dedicated events to launch its flagship smartphones.
