An expert has spoken on the subject of mobile phone tariffs and contracts, explaining some people are not getting the best value for money.
Ernest Doku, technology expert at uSwitch.com, said many individuals are over-cautious when choosing their allowance and can end up paying for minutes and texts they never use.
He suggested the site conducted research that found 47 per cent of people do not consume even half of what they are entitled to.
The industry insider added that those who sell mobiles may be best reinvesting the cash in a new device, rather than paying a higher monthly fee.
“If you look over the course of about two years or 18 months, you're actually saving by paying up front for the device and paying a smaller tariff in the long run,” Mr Doku explained.
Billmonitor recently announced that Britons waste a total of £5 billion on unused phone tariffs each year.
