Despite being outsold by Android-operated devices by more than two-to-one, Apple continues to dominate the paid apps market.
Many app developers have stayed loyal to Apple by making games and technology first and sometimes only for iOS handsets.
It is claimed that developers find it easier to create software for Apple devices than for ones running on Android. This has helped the operating system remain atop the apps market.
The American firm yesterday (June 11th) revealed its latest operating system – the iOS6 – at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference.
As expected the new OS, which runs on its iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices, will no longer include the Google Maps software as it has developed its own mapping app.
“Android may have a lead in how many handsets it ships, but it doesn't have a lead in how much money app developers are making from it,” investor in technology startups such as Dropbox and former manager at Microsoft Hadi Partovi said.
