More devices like the Sony Ericsson X10 could spell trouble for some other manufacturers, if one expert is to be believed.
According to a spokesman for Mobile Gazette, a publication which offers news and reviews on the latest handsets and developments, companies like Nokia and Microsoft may have cause for concern.
Conrad Longmore, editor at the technology resource, explained that Google is taking a bigger stake in what is a “highly competitive market” and this will only be made more significant with its latest software update.
“There’s no doubt that Android 2.0 will attract customers, but not necessarily the same customers that would go for the iPhone. Perhaps the people who should be worrying most of all are Microsoft and Nokia,” he added.
It is hoped that the Sony Ericsson X10 will be able to help its creator recoup some of the market share it has lost in recent years, with its most recent quarterly sales down 45 per cent year-on-year.
