Mobile phone users thinking of trading in their device in favour of another might want to consider the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play as a potential purchase.
Michael Morgan, senior analyst of mobile devices at ABI Research, suggested the handset has the potential to be very special.
He noted his desire for some mobiles in the market to develop their own Android sub-ecosystem.
This means all of the hardware and content stored on the phone – including applications and games – come together on the operating system.
“Currently I believe that if Sony Ericsson plays its cards right, it could spin their latest gaming smartphone – Xperia PLAY – into such a sub-ecosystem,” Mr Morgan asserted.
The expert added that attaching the PlayStation set-up to the mobile will work wonders.
Bert Nordberg, president and chief executive officer at Sony Ericsson, recently said the Xperia Play has been well received since its release in the first quarter of 2011.
