Telstra has announced that it has managed to attract almost one million new mobile phone customers in the last six months as people sell their handsets to take up the provider's 4G network.
This surge has helped to underpin Telstra's return to profit growth and goes to show how powerful the lure of speed is becoming with mobile phones, The Australian reports.
Telstra's Adam Couper told the news provider that the speeds of the phones are around two or three times faster than any of other mobile phones that the company provides.
“Just the ability for people to get information a lot faster: business people who are interested in stockmarkets can get all their figures a lot faster, and bidding online is much quicker as well,” he said.
Telstra recently paid £153 million for exclusive mobile rights to the AFL but Optus won a ruling from the Federal Court that stated the company would be able to show the near-to-live action on phones despite not having a binding contract.
