Britons who trade in a mobile and upgrade to one of the market's top smartphones could soon find they are able to download the Sky app.
The news provider already has a tool available to iPhone users, but will develop it for other platforms, according to the Guardian blog.
It suggested the likes of Android – providing security issues can be overcome – and Windows Phone 7 will soon offer the feature.
Commenting on the security streams that have put the company off investing in Android, the publication quoted Sky's general manager for mobiles David Gibbs as saying: “We can't protect those streams to meet the obligations for our rightsholders [but] there will be a solution around September time.”
Sky is said to have been impressed by how well its BlackBerry apps have performed since release.
Other tools to hit the news recently include Everyday Golf Coach, which offers users tips on how to improve their golf swings.
