Apple has been criticised for not putting enough innovation into its S models of mobile phones. But how much effort has the company placed on this for the iPhone 5S?
On the surface the iPhone 5S looks a lot like the iPhone 5 with their weight, dimensions and most of their specifications inside being the same. The main difference in appearance is the home button which has been altered to incorporate the fingerprint sensor on Apple's latest release.
The iPhone 5S also has two new colour options which weren't available when the iPhone 5 was released; gold and space grey. It offers the same storage, software and display.
Both devices have eight-megapixel cameras, but Apple has made improvements with the image stabilisation, live photo filters and introduced a new feature which takes ten shots per second. It can also record better video and this includes a new slow motion feature and stabilisation.
The iPhone 5S is faster too with its A7 chip, which Apple claims makes it twice as fast as the iPhone 5. It also has slightly improved battery life with ten hours of talk time compared to the iPhone 5's eight.
