Mobile phone recycling could be driven by Recycle Week, which takes place between June 21st and 25th.
The Sutton Guardian reports that any electrical appliance weighing under 10kg can be handed in by people at collection points across Sutton in order to win prizes donated by a host of stores.
Councillor Colin Hall, executive member for environment and climate change at Sutton Council, stated the scheme is a “win-win situation”.
He said: “Residents will have convenient places to get rid of their unwanted appliances and … a number of these appliances will be given a new lease of life and donated to the less well off.”
Consumers may wish to send their old mobile phones to Mazuma to receive cash, while also helping to protect the environment.
Recycle Now is giving schools the chance to win prizes when people hand in unwanted electrical products at participating locations around the country during Recycle Week.
